All Queensland residential properties being sold must comply with the additional smoke alarm regulations as set out in the Fire & Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Bill 2016.

According to the new law, before settlement, smoke alarms must be:

Photoelectric – AS3786-2014;
interconnected, so if one goes off they all go off;
not older than ten years;
installed at every level;
installed in each bedroom;
installed in hallways outside the bedrooms and if there is none, in the most likely path of escape.
