Fire Extinguisher Testing Sunshine Coast
Fire extinguishers are a must in every home. They can be the difference between a small spot fire, or a house burnt to the ground, even life and death in some cases. Most houses have a fire extinguisher, but surprisingly many do not understand how to use one effectively or how to check and maintain the extinguisher.
Extinguishers are specific to certain types of fires. The most common type of household fire extinguisher is an ABE dry chemical powder extinguisher. This extinguisher is effective in putting out Class A fires (Combustible Solids), Class B fires (flammable liquids) and Class E fires (Electrical fires).
Extinguishers should be maintained by being turned upside down and shaken every six months to ensure the powder is not built upon the bottom. And that if you have to use the extinguisher, the powder will flow through the nozzle and not just air. Fire Extinguishers should also be replaced every five years. You can check how full your extinguisher is by checking the gauge on the bottle or more effectively, weighing the bottle as per the instructions on the label.
